Cloyster collecting questions

Can I use this as a Cloyster master set checklist?

Use the free PDF or CSV to track the English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards in this collection, including listed promos, editions and holo variants. Each version has its own checkbox. “Master set” totals depend on which languages and printings you collect; this checklist covers the records currently listed here and does not guarantee every historical printing is included.

  • English: 14 card listings and 28 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
  • Japanese: 20 card listings and 23 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
Does this list include every type of Cloyster collectible card?

This list covers English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards named Cloyster, including named forms and owner’s Pokémon where available. It does not include TCG Pocket, Topps, Topsun, Carddass, other languages or cameos in another Pokémon’s artwork. Gallery additions and checklist counts follow the catalogue as it updates.

How much are Cloyster Pokémon cards worth?

Match the set, collector number, language, edition and finish before comparing values. Condition affects what a card sells for.

  • English: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.15 to $80.67 USD, across 13 distinct priced cards.
  • Japanese: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.13 to $31.25 USD, across 13 distinct priced cards.

Unpriced cards still appear in the checklist. Check each version’s observation date; older estimates may be out of date.

Are these raw Cloyster card values or PSA 10 prices?

These are estimated prices for raw, ungraded cards. PSA 10 and other graded cards have separate values. A raw estimate does not tell you what a PSA 10 copy is worth; compare recent sales of the exact card and grade.

What are the cheapest Cloyster cards to collect?
  • English: has the lowest available estimate at $0.15 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
  • Japanese: has the lowest available estimate at $0.13 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
Which Cloyster cards can I collect for under US$5 or US$10?
  • English: 11 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 11 have one below US$10.
  • Japanese: 8 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 10 have one below US$10.

Each card counts once, using its cheapest priced version. Cards below US$5 also count below US$10. These budgets stay in US dollars when you change the display currency; compare exact versions and check the price dates before buying.

Are Expedition Cloyster 8/165 and 42/165 the same artwork?

Both use Kyoko Umemoto’s Cloyster design. Expedition 8/165 is the holo-numbered card and 42/165 the non-holo-numbered card; Japanese Base Expansion Pack uses 110/128 and 078/128 respectively. The e-Reader identifiers B-80 and B-80-# distinguish the holo and non-holo prints. English reverse-holo variants still retain their own printed collector numbers.

Which Cloyster is the Fighting-type Delta Species card?

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated Fighting-type Cloyster δ 14/101 in EX Dragon Frontiers and Japanese 039/068 in Offense and Defense of the Furthest Ends. The δ designation marks the changed TCG typing; it remains a Cloyster card that evolves from Shellder.

Why is Pryce’s Cloyster 040/141 a Basic Pokémon?

The Japanese Pokémon VS card presents Pryce’s Cloyster as a Basic owner’s Pokémon, with Mitsuhiro Arita’s illustration and the Shell Grab and Shell Attack moves. It is a different card from Misty’s Cloyster and ordinary Stage 1 Cloyster. The design also appeared in the Japanese movie-theater Tyranitar Half Deck in 2001; special translated tournament-deck prints are separate from the Japanese 040/141 card listed here.
