Lorcana Promo Cards Guide: D23, Disney100 & Event Promos

A promo’s distribution is part of its identity. Use this guide to separate event prizes, gift-product exclusives and commemorative releases before comparing prices or adding a card to your checklist.

Start with the printing, not just the character

A promo may share its name and rules with a booster card while having a different collector number, stamp, artwork or foil. Before comparing prices, record the full name, bottom information line, event or product name, language and finish. Keep the front and back of the actual card in view.

These Elsa cards belong to different releases. The D23 name and Disney100 branding are not two labels for the same promotional set.

Release order: D23 came first, Disney100 came later

  1. September 2022: D23 debut. A six-card collector selection and a separately distributed Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Tailor introduced early Lorcana cards.
  2. 18 August 2023: The First Chapter’s local-game-store launch. This is the first main booster release, after the D23 preview cards.
  3. 1 December 2023: Disney100 Edition. Its six alternate-art cards drew on The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn. Rise of the Floodborn itself reached local game stores on 17 November.

Sort by the release of the exact printing, not the year a mixed promo catalogue was created. A card in a general promo group can be much newer than the group’s oldest card.

D23 2022, 2024 and 2026 are separate releases

The 2024 D23 Collection contains six expanded-art cards drawn from the first six sets, including an early Oswald – The Lucky Rabbit. That is a different collection from the 2022 debut cards. Individual D23 giveaways also need to be distinguished from the boxed selections.

The 2026 D23 Collection again contains six extended-art foil cards, including an early Hyperia City card. Its distribution later expanded beyond the convention: Ravensburger announced an online purchase drawing that ran from 31 October to 1 November 2026, with notifications beginning 4 November. That entry window has closed. Do not assume a seller’s “event-exclusive” wording means every copy was physically purchased at the event.

Disney100: printed signatures, six fixed cards

The Disney100 Edition includes alternate-art Elsa – Gloves Off, Stitch – Abomination, Mickey Mouse – Friendly Face, Genie – Powers Unleashed, Maleficent – Uninvited and Maui – Demigod. The signature design reproduces the animator’s signature; it is not evidence that an artist personally signed your individual card.

The product also contains four Rise of the Floodborn booster packs. The six included cards are fixed contents; pulls from those packs are separate. When buying singles, match the Disney100 artwork rather than the ordinary version with the same name.

Why the exact tournament finish matters

At the announced 2026 North American and European Championships, Tinker Bell – Insistent Fairy was listed as a foil Top 16 award, while a non-foil version appeared on the prize-wall list. Those are different collecting targets even though the character and subtitle match.

Compare the finish, printed number and event evidence together. Do not apply one event’s award threshold to every Challenge, and do not turn “Top 16” into a claim that only 16 copies exist worldwide.

Included-product promos: a practical example

The Azurite Sea Stitch Collector’s Gift Set includes Stitch – Alien Buccaneer with a water-like foil treatment, a Stitch portfolio and four Azurite Sea boosters. The included Stitch is a fixed product card; the boosters are random. A standard Alien Buccaneer listing is not a substitute for the gift-set printing.

Likewise, distinguish the six-card Disney100 selection from the larger contents of its sealed box. A single-card price comparison should not include the value of its packaging or unopened boosters.

A quick checklist before buying a promo

  • Match the actual card to the exact promo listing, including language and finish.
  • Ask for a clear bottom-line photo and an angled image showing foil, rather than relying on the title or stock picture.
  • Separate the included promo from sealed packaging, booster packs, portfolios and oversized cards when comparing value.
  • Use a price for that printing. Missing raw prices should stay unavailable, not be replaced with a graded auction result.
  • Check the original distribution before assuming a card can still be obtained at a park, shop or event.

Promo collecting questions

Are all promo cards rare or valuable?

No. “Promo” describes a distribution category. Some are widely distributed participation cards; others come from restricted products or competition awards. A documented print quantity is different from an estimate based on an event result.

Can I pull these promos from ordinary boosters?

The specific event or included-product promo is obtained through its stated distribution, even when a standard card with the same name can be opened in a booster. Check the exact promo artwork, stamp and number.
