So you're asking yourself considering buying a Perfect Combination Booster Box from the Dragon Ball Super Card Game? Please be advised nothing written in this article is to be considered financial advice and is completely personal opinion.
Perfect Combination set has to have one of the best GDR cards ever released. Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods BT23-140.
This exact card sold for $1,750 on eBay on December 6th 2023
The current price of a booster box is ~$55USD, but the chance of pulling the Ultra Instinct Son Goku GDR is extremely low. Many collectors have opened numerous boxes without finding it.
One user on Reddit has said they have managed to pull this GDR within the first 3 packs they have opened. Another user commented stating they had opened 8 cases without finding it.
This UI Goku GDR was leaked early by someone who scraped the Bandai website and there was A LOT of buzz on social platforms about the possible UI Goku GDR. Once Bandai confirmed the rumours about the suspected GDR were true, fans of the DBS TCG were extremely excited and eager to try their luck pulling it.
Much like the anticipation surrounding the original God Rare in Realm of the Gods SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power, Perfect Combination has sparked a similar excitement due to its own sought-after GDR card, Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods.
SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power GDR from BT16 Realm of the Gods
What are the best cards in the Perfect Combination set?

2. Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods BT23-140 SCR
3. SS Trunks, Complete Elimination SCR BT23-138
4. Super Shenron, Wish-Granting Dragon SCR BT23-139
Some notable mentions in the Special Rare category:
Son Goku, Multiple Awakenings SPR BT23-109

What are the pull rates for the Perfect Combination Ultra Instinct Son Goku GDR?
There is 2 Secret Rares inserted within a case of booster boxes (12 boxes) so your chances to pull a SCR or higher is 16.6% per booster box.
The God Rare can be inserted in the slot of a SCR but is much harder to pull and by no means guaranteed in a case of booster boxes.
We know people personally that have opened multiple cases and have yet to pull one. We also know a collector who has pulled one out of only 2 cases. Unfortunately Bandai doesn't make that sort of information public and we can only go off what the community reports to us.
At the time of writing there is not many available for sale so it definitely must be a hard to pull chase card.
Is the Perfect Combination set worth opening?
It really depends on how lucky you're feeling. If you manage to pull a 4 digit valued card from a $50 box then it would most certainly be worth it.
How much is the Perfect Combination box worth?
At the time of writing they are around $50-55USD.
As with most recent sets of Dragon Ball Super card sets released they usually unfortunately tank pretty hard with stores trying to undercut each other to try and sell their stock as soon as they get it. The lowest we saw this box was around $44USD which has slowly rebounded back up to around ~$55. The chance of pulling Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods has people ripping boxes like no tomorrow.
Graph from TCGPlayer of the current price as of December 12 2023.
Even though this graph looks scary and this set has dropped since release, it is actually quite common for most DBS card sets to do this since the last 2 years. From here on out it may begin to climb as people chase the GDR. I have also noticed a lot of old collectors who had left the collecting game come back just for this set.
If DBS TCG picks up again in the future potential factors exist that could lead to future price appreciation. Even if things stay the same in terms of popularity, we can't see this set dropping too much more in price since it is already below retail price. In saying that, anything is possible.
Is the Perfect Combination Booster Box worth it?
So to answer your question, Is Perfect Combination Booster Box worth it? We say at ~$50 a box - yes it is. Even just for the art in these cards. The added presence of Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods, a highly desirable card, could drive future demand and potentially increase the price of Perfect Combination booster boxes.
**** February 17th 2024 Edit ****
As expected, average selling prices have gone up from around $50 to over $60 with some boxes selling online selling for around $80. Most sets usually stay low but with this set having the possibility of pulling a UI Goku GDR it is no surprise that it has risen in price from the all time low.
It looks like it could still have some room to go even at these prices (which is still around retail price). Looks like people are still keen to hunt that GDR!
Will revisit this blog in a couple more months and see what happens to the price. Will be interesting to see how the whole card game fares after the introduction of Dragon Ball Fusion Worlds.
