Scyther collecting questions

Can I use this as a Scyther master set checklist?

Use the free PDF or CSV to track the English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards in this collection, including listed promos, editions and holo variants. Each version has its own checkbox. “Master set” totals depend on which languages and printings you collect; this checklist covers the records currently listed here and does not guarantee every historical printing is included.

  • English: 38 card listings and 64 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
  • Japanese: 41 card listings and 45 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
Does this list include every type of Scyther collectible card?

This list covers English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards named Scyther, including named forms and owner’s Pokémon where available. It does not include TCG Pocket, Topps, Topsun, Carddass, other languages or cameos in another Pokémon’s artwork. Gallery additions and checklist counts follow the catalogue as it updates.

How much are Scyther Pokémon cards worth?

Match the set, collector number, language, edition and finish before comparing values. Condition affects what a card sells for.

  • English: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.15 to $350.00 USD, across 33 distinct priced cards.
  • Japanese: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.12 to $150.00 USD, across 29 distinct priced cards.

Unpriced cards still appear in the checklist. Check each version’s observation date; older estimates may be out of date.

Are these raw Scyther card values or PSA 10 prices?

These are estimated prices for raw, ungraded cards. PSA 10 and other graded cards have separate values. A raw estimate does not tell you what a PSA 10 copy is worth; compare recent sales of the exact card and grade.

What are the cheapest Scyther cards to collect?
  • English: has the lowest available estimate at $0.15 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
  • Japanese: has the lowest available estimate at $0.12 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
Which Scyther cards can I collect for under US$5 or US$10?
  • English: 17 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 22 have one below US$10.
  • Japanese: 17 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 22 have one below US$10.

Each card counts once, using its cheapest priced version. Cards below US$5 also count below US$10. These budgets stay in US dollars when you change the display currency; compare exact versions and check the price dates before buying.

Where did Wizards Promo Scyther 45 come from?

English Scyther 45 was distributed through the Pokémon League in April 2002. Its Japanese design first appeared on glossy sheet seven of Expansion Sheet 3 in 1998 and was later reprinted as a non-glossy holo in the Quick Starter Gift Set Green Deck. The English card uses a Neo-era layout; the Japanese prints use the original layout.

Are Jungle Scyther 10/64 and 26/64 different artworks?

They are holo and nonholo versions of the same Ken Sugimori design. The Japanese Jungle original was holo, and the design later appeared in Base Set 2, Platinum and Pokémon TCG Classic. Those later releases remain their own printing families.

Are the Shiny Scyther cards in Hidden Fates and Paldean Fates the same design?

No. Hidden Fates SV1/SV94 uses Shigenori Negishi’s Shiny illustration, originating from Japanese GX Ultra Shiny 161/150. Paldean Fates 095/091 uses Hitoshi Ariga’s different Shiny illustration, originally Shiny Treasure ex 194/190. Both are separate from their regular set illustrations.
