Onix collecting questions

Can I use this as a Onix master set checklist?

Use the free PDF or CSV to track the English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards in this collection, including listed promos, editions and holo variants. Each version has its own checkbox. “Master set” totals depend on which languages and printings you collect; this checklist covers the records currently listed here and does not guarantee every historical printing is included.

  • English: 33 card listings and 59 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
  • Japanese: 37 card listings and 44 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
Does this list include every type of Onix collectible card?

This list covers English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards named Onix, including named forms and owner’s Pokémon where available. It does not include TCG Pocket, Topps, Topsun, Carddass, other languages or cameos in another Pokémon’s artwork. Gallery additions and checklist counts follow the catalogue as it updates.

How much are Onix Pokémon cards worth?

Match the set, collector number, language, edition and finish before comparing values. Condition affects what a card sells for.

  • English: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.10 to $197.09 USD, across 32 distinct priced cards.
  • Japanese: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.07 to $65.95 USD, across 32 distinct priced cards.

Unpriced cards still appear in the checklist. Check each version’s observation date; older estimates may be out of date.

Are these raw Onix card values or PSA 10 prices?

These are estimated prices for raw, ungraded cards. PSA 10 and other graded cards have separate values. A raw estimate does not tell you what a PSA 10 copy is worth; compare recent sales of the exact card and grade.

What are the cheapest Onix cards to collect?
  • English: has the lowest available estimate at $0.10 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
  • Japanese: has the lowest available estimate at $0.07 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
Which Onix cards can I collect for under US$5 or US$10?
  • English: 27 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 30 have one below US$10.
  • Japanese: 24 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 29 have one below US$10.

Each card counts once, using its cheapest priced version. Cards below US$5 also count below US$10. These budgets stay in US dollars when you change the display currency; compare exact versions and check the price dates before buying.

Where did the Japanese CoroCoro Brock’s Onix come from?

Ken Sugimori’s unnumbered Brock’s Onix accompanied the March 1998 CoroCoro Comic issue, released February 15, 1998, on an insert with Misty’s Staryu. A different illustration by Sugimori was used for the Nivi City Gym deck reprint and subsequently Gym Heroes 69/132. The magazine and deck artwork should remain distinct.

How does Vending Onix differ from the Quick Starter reprint?

Tomokazu Komiya’s Onix was supplied as a glossy card on sheet one of Japanese Expansion Sheet 2, released June 17, 1998. The Quick Starter Gift Set Red Deck later reprinted the same design without gloss on December 4, 1998. The glossy finish identifies the original sheet distribution, while the later deck card has a different finish.

Why does Southern Islands Onix look like part of a larger picture?

Keiko Fukuyama’s Onix forms part of the Rainbow Island Sky panorama with Mew and Pidgeot. Southern Islands divides each regional picture across three cards. The Japanese release arrived on July 17, 1999, with unnumbered cards; the English collection followed on July 31, 2001, numbering Onix 3/18. Their shared illustration does not merge their language or release identities.
