Kakuna collecting questions

Can I use this as a Kakuna master set checklist?

Use the free PDF or CSV to track the English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards in this collection, including listed promos, editions and holo variants. Each version has its own checkbox. “Master set” totals depend on which languages and printings you collect; this checklist covers the records currently listed here and does not guarantee every historical printing is included.

  • English: 23 card listings and 44 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
  • Japanese: 27 card listings and 33 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
Does this list include every type of Kakuna collectible card?

This list covers English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards named Kakuna, including named forms and owner’s Pokémon where available. It does not include TCG Pocket, Topps, Topsun, Carddass, other languages or cameos in another Pokémon’s artwork. Gallery additions and checklist counts follow the catalogue as it updates.

How much are Kakuna Pokémon cards worth?

Match the set, collector number, language, edition and finish before comparing values. Condition affects what a card sells for.

  • English: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.11 to $150.00 USD, across 22 distinct priced cards.
  • Japanese: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.10 to $17.13 USD, across 19 distinct priced cards.

Unpriced cards still appear in the checklist. Check each version’s observation date; older estimates may be out of date.

Are these raw Kakuna card values or PSA 10 prices?

These are estimated prices for raw, ungraded cards. PSA 10 and other graded cards have separate values. A raw estimate does not tell you what a PSA 10 copy is worth; compare recent sales of the exact card and grade.

What are the cheapest Kakuna cards to collect?
  • English: has the lowest available estimate at $0.11 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
  • Japanese: has the lowest available estimate at $0.10 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
Which Kakuna cards can I collect for under US$5 or US$10?
  • English: 21 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 21 have one below US$10.
  • Japanese: 16 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 18 have one below US$10.

Each card counts once, using its cheapest priced version. Cards below US$5 also count below US$10. These budgets stay in US dollars when you change the display currency; compare exact versions and check the price dates before buying.

What is the Japanese unnumbered Vending Kakuna?

It is Mitsuhiro Arita’s Kakuna card from Expansion Sheet 1, also known as Vending Series 1. Its illustration differs from the original Expansion Pack Kakuna.

An absent collector number is not an error to fill with Pokédex number 014. The checklist keeps the imported card unnumbered.

Does Koga’s Kakuna belong in a Kakuna collection?

Yes. Ken Sugimori’s Koga’s Kakuna is an owner-named Kakuna Pokémon card: English Gym Challenge 47/132 and Japanese Challenge from the Darkness. It is included alongside ordinary Kakuna prints.

It has its own artwork, set and card identity; an owner name does not turn it into a Trainer card or a finish of Base Set Kakuna.

What is unusual about Skyridge Kakuna’s e-Reader strip?

Hisao Nakamura’s 70/144 card has e-Reader data with card ID F-03-#. Its long strip contains an additional attack for use through the e-Reader feature.

The corresponding Japanese card is Mysterious Mountains 003/088. Match that set number and language, and keep normal and reverse-holo editions separate in the checklist.
