Gengar collecting questions

Can I use this as a Gengar master set checklist?

Use the free PDF or CSV to track the English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards in this collection, including listed promos, editions and holo variants. Each version has its own checkbox. “Master set” totals depend on which languages and printings you collect; this checklist covers the records currently listed here and does not guarantee every historical printing is included.

  • English: 73 card listings and 97 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
  • Japanese: 61 card listings and 61 checklist entries, including listed editions and finishes.
Does this list include every type of Gengar collectible card?

This list covers English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards named Gengar, including named forms and owner’s Pokémon where available. It does not include TCG Pocket, Topps, Topsun, Carddass, other languages or cameos in another Pokémon’s artwork. Gallery additions and checklist counts follow the catalogue as it updates.

How much are Gengar Pokémon cards worth?

Match the set, collector number, language, edition and finish before comparing values. Condition affects what a card sells for.

  • English: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.31 to $2,224.99 USD, across 56 distinct priced cards.
  • Japanese: listed raw-card estimates range from $0.43 to $788.00 USD, across 35 distinct priced cards.

Unpriced cards still appear in the checklist. Check each version’s observation date; older estimates may be out of date.

Are these raw Gengar card values or PSA 10 prices?

These are estimated prices for raw, ungraded cards. PSA 10 and other graded cards have separate values. A raw estimate does not tell you what a PSA 10 copy is worth; compare recent sales of the exact card and grade.

What are the cheapest Gengar cards to collect?
  • English: has the lowest available estimate at $0.31 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
  • Japanese: has the lowest available estimate at $0.43 USD. Open the card to check its price date and versions.
Which Gengar cards can I collect for under US$5 or US$10?
  • English: 12 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 14 have one below US$10.
  • Japanese: 6 distinct cards have a listed version below US$5; 9 have one below US$10.

Each card counts once, using its cheapest priced version. Cards below US$5 also count below US$10. These budgets stay in US dollars when you change the display currency; compare exact versions and check the price dates before buying.

What is the Japanese Masaki Gengar promo?

Hironobu Yoshida illustrated this unnumbered Communication Evolution reward. Participants mailed a Haunter card with Bill’s PC to Media Factory; rewards were mailed in 1999 after the application campaign ended. The promo uses regular card stock, while Vending-sheet cards are glossy. A later Pokémon Web version uses the e-Card layout.

Why do Expedition and Skyridge each have two Gengar numbers?

Expedition 13/165 and 48/165 are holo/nonholo versions of Yukiko Baba’s Gengar design. Skyridge H9/H32 and 10/144 are the equivalent holo/nonholo versions of Kyoko Umemoto’s design. Each pair shares its illustration; the Expedition and Skyridge illustrations are separate cards.

Was the Staff Gengar SWSH241 distributed with the 2022 prerelease?

The ordinary SWSH241 promo, illustrated by Uta, was available in Lost Origin Build & Battle Boxes for the 2022 release. Its gold Staff-stamped version was distributed retroactively to Pokémon Leagues in early 2023. They share the promo illustration, but their distribution years differ. Lost Origin’s regular card and Trainer Gallery card use other illustrations.
